Spring Information

What Springs Come With X Reformers?

The spring configuration for X Reformers varies depending on the model. Our commercial-grade reformers come equipped with 1 strong spring, 2 medium springs, and 2 light springs, offering a range of resistance options based on which springs are attached. For home-use reformers, such as the X Foldable Reformer, the standard setup includes 2 strong springs, 1 medium spring, and 1 light spring. Additionally, the X-Pro Reformer, classified as a light commercial reformer, has the same spring setup as a home reformer but includes an option to add a fifth spring. For those looking for even lighter resistance options, XEquipment also offers an extra light spring as an optional upgrade for all reformers.

Spring Color Coding

XEquipment follows a consistent color system for spring resistance:

Reformers & Cadillac (Short Springs):

  • Yellow – Extra Light
  • Blue – Light
  • Red – Medium
  • Green – Strong

Cadillac (Long Springs):

  • Yellow – Extra Light
  • Purple – Light
  • Red – strong

Combo Chair Springs:

  • Green – Strong
  • Black – Extra Strong

Spring Resistance Levels

The resistance of XEquipment springs varies based on the extension length. The further the spring is stretched, the greater the resistance. The resistance range for X Reformers is as follows (measured from 5cm to 90cm of extension):

  • Extra Light: 1-7 kg
  • Light: 3-15 kg
  • Medium: 4-20 kg
  • Strong: 5-30 kg

How Do XEquipment Springs Compare to Other Brands?

Most leading Pilates brands provide spring resistance data in kg/cm or lbs/inch, making comparisons straightforward. XEquipment’s standard spring setup provides resistance levels comparable to or slightly higher than those of other major brands, ensuring versatility for a range of users without requiring modifications to the default configuration.

Spring Lifespan & Replacement

To ensure safety and optimal performance, we recommend replacing all springs after 2 years or 2,000 hours of use (whichever comes first). If a spring shows any signs of wear, kinking, or distortion, it should be immediately replaced to maintain safety and functionality.
